Bible Overview: Books of the Bible and Their Number of Chapters

One of my most common internet searches is about the books of the Bible and the number of chapters each book has. It dawned on me to put the list together and share it here (on the blog) because perhaps this is something you search for as well.

Having a list of the books of the Bible with the number of chapters each book contains is helpful for multiple reasons. Personally, I like to know how many chapters are in each book for fun, but also to help me create my Bible reading plans, to do deep-dive studies, plan my writing and teaching content, and also to help my memory. When I know how many chapters are in a book, it often helps me remember where certain scriptures are located.

Whether you’re creating Bible reading plans, doing deep-dive Bible studies, planning sermons or teaching content, or memorizing the books of the Bible, or wanting this list for any other reason at all, this list is helpful! I look forward to hearing from you how you use it.

I will also attach a link at the very end where you can download a basic list for your personal use (it’s nothing fancy, just a basic list I use for myself — maybe in the future, I’ll design it more creatively, but for now, feel free to use it and download/print it).

Here is the basic list of all sixty-six books of the Bible and the number of chapters in each book. It is also divided into categories of the Bible. I will gradually add links to each book of the Bible to any posts related to that Bible book within this blog, so be sure to save this page and come back to it when you’re looking for deeper insights, perspectives, and revelations in the Word.
