Does your dream matter?

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. – Harriet Tubman

It’s always easier to take a step down instead of up towards your goal. On days when the stars seem extra far away, that’s when our decisions matter extra. The way we respond to our circumstances and people matters, our attitude matters, getting uncomfortable matters, taking closer steps MATTERS. It all matters. When we are diligent in our daily lives, great things begin to happen.

The one who works his land will have plenty of food,

but whoever chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

Proverbs 28:19

I think it’s great that we have dreams and passions, but I don’t think it’s great when those ideas are tossed in our “maybe one-day” bucket list. How un-inspiring is that? What are we doing NOW to get closer to those dreams and passions?! Like I said, taking one step closer matters. It all matters. It might not matter to you right now, but when you look back at your life, what do you want to see? All the time you left in the air or the time well spent?

Time won’t stop and you can’t get it back. Do with what you have now.

So often I hear people say, “I just don’t have the time,” and I don’t believe a millisecond of it. I said the same words enough. It wasn’t until I realized there were dreams in my heart since I was 15 that I didn’t start working on up until now; there are thoughts and ideas I left running through my head since I was 8 years old and I could’ve been so much further ahead by now.

It’s not that we don’t have the time, we either don’t know what to do and where to start or we don’t believe we can.

Get a new perspective. Whatever obstacle you’re facing, it’s not permanent.

The person who is diligent ALWAYS succeeds.

We see it in the Wisdom books of the Bible, in Jesus’s parables, in true inspiring movies, in our favorite books, fiction, nonfiction and so on. If you’ve had dreams sitting on the shelf and don’t know what to do or where to start, here’s a kickstart for you – get a new perspective. Start somewhere. Open up that journal and start writing. Start dreaming. Start drawing, and painting, and planning. Talk to a trustworthy and encouraging friend. Express your dreams now and take the step closer to making it happen.

Why? Because it matters.

Why? Because you’re here for a reason.

Why? Because you’re the only one who can make your dream happen.

What are your dreams and passions? What are you going to do TODAY?
